uppteam’s Architectural Offshore Production (AOP) team was engaged to develop a comprehensive construction document set for a 5,000 SF mosque in California. The scope of work covered site planning, life safety and code compliance, floor plans, exterior elevations, enlarged plans, and detailed sections. Our team created this full, permit-ready package for the facility, centered on prayer halls, ablution areas, and community support spaces.

Project Timeline

  • Phase 1 - The first phase of this project, which spanned a month, focused on the site and code foundation. During this period, we worked on site plan development, life safety planning, and code compliance review to set a firm regulatory foundation before design advanced further.
  • Phase 2 - This phase spanned months 2 to 4, with an emphasis on design development and documentation. Accordingly, our team developed floor plans, exterior elevations, and enlarged plans in Revit, translating the client’s functional and spiritual needs into accurate, buildable layouts.
  • Phase 3 - This phase was essentially the final, fifth month of the project and mainly involved detailing and final coordination. During this phase, we finalized sections and construction details using AutoCAD, guaranteeing that the drawing set satisfied accessibility standards and was fully coordinated for construction release.

Additional Notes

  • The main challenge was that the mosque required highly specific spatial relationships — ablution areas positioned for flow and privacy, prayer halls oriented correctly, and support facilities that don’t disrupt worship — all while abiding by California code and accessibility mandates.

  • In the end, a clear, well-documented construction package was delivered within the specified schedule, balancing cultural and functional sensitivity with technical precision and ready for permitting and construction.
