Our History

Uppteam’s baby steps started in 2006 as Milan Engineering. Mitesh Smart, a PE in Florida, US, founded Milan Engineering, which he sold in 2016 because of exceptional quality and profitability. He has been spearheading for 20+ years in the design support solution domain, focusing on Uppteam’s remaining growth.
At an early stage, we perfected the offshore design support model to make the US-based AE firms highly productive by using the India offshore team, which could essentially work in a time zone exactly opposite the US. This move helped us establish a 24-hour operation outfit. Our commitment to client satisfaction, importance to care, and superior quality quickly earned us prominence for excellence, allowing us to boost our client base.
In 2018, Uppteam developed internationally, partnering with major AEC service providers across North America. Our diverse team became one of our greatest strengths, bringing fresh mindsets and visionary ideas to every project. We created a world-class training institute to sharpen our staff’s skills in line with US construction and design knowledge.
In 2020, amid global economic challenges like COVID-19, Uppteam demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability. We pivoted to fully remote operations, maintaining our productivity and quality.
Today, Uppteam is one of the leaders in remote AEC design services, with a long-term global client base, over 2000 completed projects, and a team of over 250 talented professionals. Our history is one of continuous growth, learning, and adaptation. As we look to the future, we remain committed to our founding principles of innovation, quality, and exceptional service.

Uppteam has faced and successfully steered numerous challenges throughout its journey, each making us stronger and more adaptable.

EarlyStartupHurdles
In our initial years, we faced a few challenges as a startup in an aggressive industry. Limited resources, establishing credibility, and attracting talent were significant hurdles. We overcame these by delivering outstanding quality in every assignment, no matter how small, which helped us build a strong reputation and attract clients.

ExpansionChallenges

As we expanded into Canada and the USA, we faced challenges managing a larger, more diverse clientele across different time zones and cultures. We invested in communication and training and developed a robust project management system for seamless collaboration. 


Our dedicated training and development initiative provides intensive internships to fresh engineering and architectural designers. We also monitor the AEC industry’s regular updates and train our teams accordingly. We often collaborate with US-based architects and engineers who share their valuable insights and train our designers on US standards.

COVID-19

The pandemic presented unusual challenges, forcing us to shift to a remote working setup rapidly. We quickly adapted by:

  • Implementing new digital collaboration tools
  • Establishing clear remote work policies
  • Providing additional support for employees’ mental health and work-life balance

These measures maintained our productivity and opened new opportunities in remote AEC services.

At Uppteam, we provide customized design solutions based on each client’s unique needs. The tailored solutions help our clients reach their full potential while meeting their goals. 

 

Our design team offers technical expertise as they are proficient in architectural, structural, civil, MEP, etc., design tools. They use advanced tools such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, Tekla Structure, Bluebeam, etc., and gain regular training on SolidWorks, SketchUp, and other updated tools. 

 

 We provide time zone comfort as we produce designs on our client’s behalf during their non-productive hours, ensuring they get updated designs when starting their day.

Our in-house quality assurance team helps reduce wastage and unnecessary expenses by mitigating errors at the design stage. We also offer third-party quality check services for architects and contractors to ensure superior design.

We keep abreast of the industry codes and standards and regularly train our designers so they produce code-compliant and energy-efficient designs. By partnering with us, clients can scale their business up or down based on their needs.
