Intro

The following case study delves into Uppteam’s approach to solving complex commercial civil design problems. We have jotted down the complexities of creating civil design solutions based on the conceptual design provided by the client. Read on to explore our design capabilities.

Project Type: Commercial

Software Used: Civil 3D & AutoCAD

Task Assigned

The client, a civil engineer in the US, shared the initial basic concept of a new structure. The client wanted us to deliver the complete civil design based on the rough sketch.

Challenges

Since we had to work on the client’s initial rough sketch, it took time for Uppteam’s civil design team to grasp the project. We also needed to submit detailed information to the client for review within 2 days.

Also, the project involved multiple sites with different criteria for which we needed to create different concepts. The project spanned around 23,690 sq. ft. area, including all the sites. Balancing innovative design with practical constraints posed a key challenge for our drafting and design team, especially when clients required urgent submissions.

Solutions

First, we allocated the project among different teams to ensure we met the deadlines. In addition, our expert civil designers continuously collaborated with the client using multiple project management tools.

While the client sought regulatory approval for a part of the complete design, we continued working on the rest to ensure we spent our time effectively. If there was feedback from the client or the county, we incorporated the changes into the live project. Since the civil design teams had to deliver the entire project in less than 4 weeks, we ensured they worked round the clock. Our designers tackled these challenges head-on to provide the client with compliant functional and aesthetic designs.
